Bloomsburg Fair 2017

First and foremost, can I just acknowledge the fact that in just a few days, it will be exactly one year since I’ve moved across the country to be with Roman? How surreal! When Roman and I started this blog, I was still living in California while he was here in Pennsylvania and we were sharing with all of you our travels together as well as how we were managing long distance! Time flies!

But to get back to the main topic of this post: Bloomsburg Fair! Roman and I went this past weekend along with his parents Mark and Doni. I had 3 days off and we thought, what better way to spend it than go to the fair?! We went on Saturday late afternoon and we could not get over how perfect the weather was. We picked the best day to go! I heard it usually rains this time of year so we were thrilled with our high 90’s weather!

Parking was full! Lots of people!

It was Roman and I’s first time attending the fair together, which made it special but even extra special to have spent the day with his parents as well! When we got to the parking lot, I was excited to see a helicopter! I’ve never been to a fair that offered helicopter rides so that was interesting.

Watching them prepare for takeoff!

And they’re up!

We were pretty hungry by the time we got inside considering we saved our appetite and we were not disappointed! There were HUNDREDS of food vendors right from the entrance and it was pretty overwhelming but in a good way of course! The very first thing we got was edible cookie dough and I couldn’t contain my excitement because earlier that day I was telling Roman how I was craving it and when he pointed it out to me, we made sure to get some right away!

We spot the edible cookie dough truck!

Roman trying the cake batter flavor and loved it

Happiness in a little cup

After getting our cookie dough craving out of the way, we continued on our food adventure! Lol

Can’t go to a fair without some fries!

Deep fried everything!

And you definitely can’t go without having some deep fried Oreos!!! We tried the deep fried peanut butter too but the Oreos were better

Mark & Roman having the best apple cider! All natural!

BBQ is a MUST!

Turkey BBQ! So tasty.

Teriyaki noodles; full of flavor!

By the end of the night, we were stuffed lol but all the walking around we did made up for it. We had such a great time! Truly blessed to have experienced it this year and with the loved ones ❤️

Cute little bunny!!!

Thanks for reading! I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

Day one in El Nido, Palawan

Hi everyone, I’m back from Paradise! 3 weeks of being in the Philippines was nothing but amazing, but at the same time I’m glad to be back in California and next week, I’ll be with Roman back in Pennsylvania! The jet lag is REAL. The last two nights I’ve been adjusting trying to get back to the same time zone but I’ve failed and continued to sleep at 6am and waking up at 5pm. Hopefully I’ll adjust soon!!

I can’t wait to share so much with you all. A lot has happened, new memories were created and met a lot of awesome people from all over the world!

The very first experience I’ll be sharing with you all is when my family and I went to El, Nido, Palawan. I can’t emphasize enough how much I loved it there and how much of a paradise it was. There were a total of 8 of us: my parents, my cousins, and my moms two sisters! We all had a BLAST. It was lovely just spending time with family but even better being in paradise!

Love the crystal clear green water and the amazing rock formations

We went kayaking through the small lagoons of El Nido. We were mesmerized by the clear water and the beautiful rock formations!

Each island that we went to only took about 15 minutes via boat. The weather was sunny with a little breeze and we loved the company– everything was going so perfectly!

These photos do not do justice with sharing the underwater beauty of Palawan, but luckily I have more! Just not for this specific post 😉

Moving on, after our snorkeling, we had our lunch on the boat! Remember when the guys were cooking it behind our boat? Well ta-da! Here are all the food!! They are such chefs lol the way they cooked it all on the boat with just a grill and even the presentation.  Absolutely loved how everything was so fresh from the fruits to all the seafood! YUM!

A Birthday Celebration For A Very Special Woman

Dear Nan,

Happy Birthday! Roman and I’s prayer for you is to find more peace, wisdom, guidance, and pure joy. May God continue to have His hand on your life and be your refuge. You deserve nothing but the best! We love you!

You are special, loved, unique in every single way and is a big blessing to countless people.

You are an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend.

We are all truly blessed to have you in our lives and we are forever grateful to the Lord for placing you in all of our lives!

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to emphasize our love for you and we hope you enjoyed the special celebration of your birthday.

We love you (Nan) Audrey Page!

On to the celebration post!

Roman and I, along with his parents Mark and Doni took a day trip out to New Jersey to celebrate his Nan’s birthday! It was not too bad of a drive; only took us about 2 & 1/2 hours without traffic!

Fun fact: George Washington crossed this same exact river on December 25, 1776, during the Revolutionary War.

We went to Vidalia’s Italian Restaurant to meet with Nan and Papa Ken. It was a beautiful place and the interior as well as the exterior designs caught my eye.

The outside patio area had a nice ambience!

It was so nice seeing Nan and Papa Ken again since the last time we saw them was early December. We were excited to catch up and enjoy a nice meal with them!

img_6640img_6641

Every single one was DELICIOUS! The chef is amazing. The chef is actually the owner and if you’re ever in Lawrenceville, NJ, we HIGHLY recommend Vidalia’s if you’re craving some Italian food!

After lunch, we headed down to Princeton and had a nice time strolling around. The weather was great so it was perfect to walk around and see the little shops.

img_6643img_6644img_6645

We went to a place called the Greene Street Consignment and oh my gosh, I could stay there for hours! They had the cutest clothes, shoes, bags– everything! Mark recommended the place since he’s been there before and the deals are great. It’s high end products for a steal price. I saw many designer stuff for less than $20 in almost perfect condition!

Doni and I trying on some shoes! Roman found these beautiful, sparkly heels but unfortunately they were a size too big for me! I tried them on anyway. Lol

img_6649

If only they weren’t so big, I totally would’ve gotten them!

img_6646

You can’t really see in this picture, but Mark found an AMAZING deal on this spiffy blazer– only $18 for this designer and it retails for $300+ how awesome is that?! And actually, Roman was the one to spot it also. He has such a good eye. Lol

Once we were done shopping around, we did some more walking around and came across this one bookstore. We had to stop and purchase some books!

img_6652IMG_6654.JPGIMG_6655.JPG

We ended the day by going back to Nan’s house. We gave her birthday gifts and she cooked for us her famous lentil soup and hummus!!! THE BEST LENTIL SOUP AND HUMMUS I HAVE EVER TASTED. It was delicious! I’m craving some now just as I write about it.

Gift from Roman and I!

Roman and I bought her an essential oil humidifier. For Christmas, I gave one to Roman and he absolutely loved it and can’t sleep at night without it so we figured she’d love it just as much! We gave her some essential oils as well and we set it up for her right there and then and she was thrilled with it!!

BEST. COOK. EVER! Thank you for all the yummy food!

Nan showed me some of her painting that she’s done in the past and look at this painting!!! She is beyond talented. I wish I got a picture of the other ones she did. She’s a true artist!

Baby Roman with his pretty grandma!

Isn’t that baby picture the cutest?! I just want to pinch Roman’s cheeks!! Lol we went through some of Roman’s baby albums and my heart was melting the entire time. So cute!!

We ended up leaving around 8pm and got back to Pennsylvania around 10:30.

We had such a wonderful time! Loved every single moment celebrating Nan’s birthday with her in Jersey with the family.

Happy Birthday once again, Audrey Page!

Lots of love,

Roman & Jesci

Date night in the Poconos

Roman drove us up to the Poconos on Saturday and the weather was good to us! It was in the 50’s and usually in California, I’d be freezing and bundled up with layers of clothing but here in the East Coast, the 50’s are high and considered warm! Lol

16836019_10202826185692223_863409961105886175_o

My tour guide

The drive takes about 45 minutes but time flies whenever I’m with Roman and it only felt like 20 minutes, not even kidding! I was surprised with how fast we got there. He gave me a tour around town and showed me all the places he used to go when he worked up there. It’s a nice, quiet area! Almost every car we saw was either from Jersey or New York– definitely out of state.

East Stroudsburg

We drove around for a while and we were so close to Jersey! Only 5 minutes away from Jersey and about an hour from New York. One of the reasons why I love the location of where Roman lives is because of how close he is to everything! It’s a nice advantage when it comes to traveling or when we’re feeling spontaneous and up for an adventure!

For dinner, we decided to go for some Japanese food. We picked a Hibachi/sushi restaurant that was packed and when we were in the parking lot, we were already thinking that the wait time must be long. When we got inside, we realized the place was HUGE. It was two story and although it was full of people, we were still seated right away. We decided to just get the sushi table and not the hibachi but next time we come back, we are most definitely going for the hibachi.

Lobster roll + diced roll

We confess that we ordered a bit too much but we were hungry when we were ordering lol the rolls came out last and they were HUGE. The pictures does not show it but it’s about 2x bigger than the usual specialty rolls! We got overwhelmed and only ate the center and left out the rice haha but to say the least– everything was delicious. We were amazed with the quality of the food and we were talking about coming back in the near future!

It was a nice little date night and couldn’t thank Roman enough for planning a day for us to spend even more quality time together!

Hope you all enjoyed the weekend! Thanks for reading!

Love,

Jess

Home cooked dinner made with L O V E

Is it crazy to think that being 21 years old, I barely started learning how to cook and experimenting with recipes since about maybe just 6 months ago? I started following cooking pages on Facebook, Instagram and even started watching “How To Cook” videos on YouTube!

Roman, being the supportive boyfriend that he is, got me a bunch of cookbooks that ranged from smoothie recipes to quick 30 minute meals. He actually surprised me with them one day and had it delivered to my house when I used to live in California! I told him once I’m in Pennsylvania, I’ll have mastered some of the recipes and make them for him and all made with love, of course

So, here’s how it turned out!

I made zucchini noodles with ground beef and tomato sauce + bell pepper stuffed ground beef with rice.

It was a successful dinner and Roman loved it. Eager to learn more new recipes and experiment!

P.s you know he’s a keeper when he helps you wash the dishes afterwards 😉

Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a blessed rest of the week! Almost the weekend!!

Nobu in Malibu

I have lived in Southern California almost all of my life but rarely do I ever go to Malibu. It’s funny because Roman, who is the tourist and flew in from Pennsylvania to California, was the one who planned our date in Malibu! And not just at any restaurant.. But Nobu!

Some of my favorite celebrities like Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, and Kendal Jenner eat at this specific branch often so it was quite an experience just being there.

The view was breathtaking. We were able to catch the sunset right when we arrived!

The timing was perfect because right after this shot was taken, our table was ready!

We had no appointment but we were seated within ten minutes. It was a Wednesday night and we arrived around 6:30pm. There was a good amount of people but not hectic.

We mainly ordered what our waiter recommended us. We were glad we listened because everything was delightful. The black cod fish was amazing. It melts in your mouth!

It was our absolute favorite. The second dish that I truly enjoyed was the tuna sashimi cilantro salad. It was full of flavor and filling. The rest of the food we ordered– we devoured. Everything was just so tasty!

The place had such nice ambience. Perfect place for a nice date!

Can I just say, I love how romantic Roman is when it comes to planning our dates. I just love and appreciate him and all his effort, especially being in a long distance relationship the physical part of not being able to go on dates as often as we’d like can be tough but he is worth it. This relationship that we have is definitely worth it.

Love,

Jesci Mari
